Default Vow of Piety

I really appreciate that all the dervish skills, that remove enchantments, only remove Dervish enchantments. This makes teardown skills much more practical to use.

But when my Dervish uses Vow of Piety and an ally casts an enchantment on me, eventually that enchantment will end and renew Vow of Piety. And this makes Vow of Piety extremely annoying to use in a build with teardowns. Consider this scenario:

I use Vow of Piety and an ally casts Spotless Soul on me (or any other enchantment). I use Grenth's Fingers (or any other feeder enchantment) and get ready to use Irresistible Sweep (or any other teardown skill). But, before I can use Irresistible Sweep, Spotless Soul has ended and placed Vow of Piety on top of Grenth's Fingers. Now, the only reasonable course of action is to rage quit and go live in a cave.

Solution: Make Vow of Piety renew itself only when a Dervish enchantments ends. This makes it much easier for the Dervish player to manage his/her enchantments and not have to worry if an ally will place an enchantment on him/her.

Optional: Make Vow of Piety cost 25 energy since it's the only non-elite Dervish skill that gives an unconditional armor bonus.

Off-topic: I really like the small health regeneration since I use a vampiric scythe and I'm too lazy to switch weapons outside of combat

Agreed, better than reversing enchant placement order

other derv skills with this issue should be changed too (if there are any), because yea you already explained it properly, it makes using teardowns pretty hard, which wasn't really what they were going for with the derv upgrade. :P

I've not used the skill since the update, but I can definately see how it would get annoying.

I see where you are coming from an agree in a way, but what if a non-dervish player is using it for the armor bonus like a monk in pvp? Not saying it's common but if they want to use it to live and only have other monk skills on their bar then it would be unmaintainable. Dervs aren't the only ones with the want of extra armor, an if it was meant only for dervs it should be switched to the primary attribute.

Just my input

That is an interesting point, however, the skill is first and foremost a dervish skill. Therefore, unless there are special circumstances (which this would not count as), it should be balanced around what will help it work for the dervish.

Reworking the skill into something that is strip-friendly would be best.

If not, turn this back to a stance. That way dervishes need to choose HoF for damage or this for more survivability and tankiness. Letting dervishes have both up at once would be very overpowered (in pvp at least). The only thing keeping people from running it now is, as the OP points out, the difficulty of not accidently removing it with teardowns.

I've tried this and honestly it's bad. Even when healer's covenant monks were viable, when it was only 2e to use a 2r patient on yourself to renew the enchantment, it was still wasted energy keeping it up when you weren't targeted. And when you get rezzed, you can't afford the 15e to put it back up again.

Was just an example to prove my point. It is much better when being used on an Onslaught warrior as it will renew everytime Onslaught wears off. Sins also have enchantments that can be used to keep this skill up and with the emange from critical strikes you will be fine. Even a paragon using another wind enchantment would be good, like harriers grasp to snare multiple foes. These profs don't really need the extra armor but neither do te dervs. And with te new OPness of dervs, you can never had too much armor
